Press for StreetsPAC's First-Ever Mayoral Endorsement

Following Tuesday's announcement of our endorsement of Bill de Blasio for mayor, StreetsPAC supports Bill as he campaigns in Brooklyn.

Here's a round-up of press covering the endorsement:

Capital New York- Safe-streets advocacy group picks de Blasio over Quinn, with Thompson out of the running

"The advent of StreetsPAC coincides with the rise of cycling and street safety as potent political issues."

Daily News- Bill de Blasio wins the bike vote

"De Blasio, a Democrat, also pledged to expand bike share - a signature Bloomberg legacy project - further into the outer boroughs. It's currently only in Manhattan south of 60th Street and parts of Brooklyn."

StreetsBlog- StreetsPAC endorses Bill de Blasio for mayor

"StreetsPAC chose de Blasio over Quinn based on the scope of his transpo platform, which includes a pledge to adopt a 'Vision Zero' approach to street safety."

Transportation Nation, WNYC- New York's bike lobby now has a mayoral candidate

"His pledge that he would replace Ray Kelly as police commissioner and instruct the NYPD to really crack down on the most dangerous driving behaviors, like speeding and failure to yield, was a statement that none of his rivals have made."

Architecture Magazine- Morning Newswire

"StreetsPAC's nod to de Blasio is the organization's first-ever mayoral endorsement—a big deal for New York City. But it's also a big deal for urbanists, transit enthusiasts, bikers and pedestrians everywhere."

Each piece paints a picture of safe, complete, and livable streets coming of age as a cultural norm.  Activists have pushed for this for years, and politicians are responding as more and more candidates are knowledgeable of livable streets issues.  Meet the many candidates who are already on board for livable streets and are running for city council, borough president, and public advocate here.  Remember, September 10 is Primary Day.  Go out and vote!
