StreetsPAC is dedicated to electing public officials who are committed to improving the safety, mobility and livability of one of New York City’s greatest assets: our streets. Our sidewalks, roads and plazas account for the majority of all public space in New York City, and are a precious resource to be used and enjoyed by all.
Safe Streets are streets safe to use and cross for people of all ages and abilities, without the threat of death or injury from dangerous motor vehicle traffic. With Safe Streets, New Yorkers can lead an active lifestyle and participate fully in the life of the city.
Complete Streets are streets that accommodate a variety of transportation options that enhance personal mobility rather than favoring motor vehicle traffic over all others. Complete Streets provide pleasant, safe space for efficient walking, transit, cycling, and wheelchair access as well as safe curbside access for taxis, delivery trucks and passenger pick-ups and drop-offs.
Livable Streets are streets that feel comfortable and welcoming to local residents and visitors alike, attract patrons to local commerce, and help shops, restaurants and other local businesses prosper and create economic activity.
StreetsPAC supports candidates for public office who will champion Safe, Complete and Livable Streets. For New York City to compete in the global economy and provide the safety and quality of life New Yorkers deserve, our leaders must embrace a 21st Century vision for our streets that puts the safety and well-being of people first and foremost.
